TL;DR
Sometimes it’s the light above that makes the love below shine even brighter. This night brought together the perfect blend of creativity, collaboration, and technical expertise to create a statement-making hanging dance floor installation at this industrial wedding venue.
An industrial setting, filled with magical lighting and love.
Everybody was over the moon, and it's easy to see why.
Few things pair better in wedding design than the industrial vibes of a place like Tenk West Bank and lush, elegant florals, greenery, and lighting.
When you reflect on those two very different things, it makes perfect sense for a wedding: One element to represent softness, love, and joy, and another to represent commitment, strength, and longevity.
Planning & design
For this event, we were brought onto the team by the always-talented Nora Culley Tuck of Engaged with Nora. Mia and John had a vision for their night, and Nora was planning a statement-making installation as the centerpiece.
“Mia and Jon were looking for a romantic yet bold design for their wedding. When working on the color palette, I pulled a deep teal color inspired by the oceans in the Philippines (where the bride's family is from) and blush from Mia's former career as a professional ballet dancer. The two worked so well together and brought new life into a warm, industrial environment.”
Nora Culley Tuck, Planner & Creative Director at Engaged with Nora
Together with Nora and Kristin Brewster of Merkel's Flower Studio, a design emerged for a breathtaking combo of chandeliers + florals, suspended in a pattern above the dance floor.
For this custom lighting concept, we selected two different sizes of our crystal globe chandeliers, 16” and 20”, to complement the pink roses, white wisteria, ivy, greenery, and more from Merkel’s.
“There's no one I trust more than SSE when it comes to lighting installation! Their extensive inventory and innovative ideas always make them perfect partners for my vendor team.“
Nora Culley Tuck, Planner & Creative Director at Engaged with Nora
This collaboration required meticulous planning and execution, particularly when it came to the installation process. Our team provided the necessary rigging, cabling, and lighting to ensure the chandeliers and floral arrangements were perfectly (and safely) positioned.
Installation
While the chandeliers and florals were the stars of the show, it was the "unsexy" aspects of rigging, lighting, and cabling that made it all possible.
The rigging process at Tenk presented unique challenges due to the venue's wooden beam structure. Unlike steel structures, wood requires careful selection of rigging points to ensure safety and stability. SSE utilized a lift capable of reaching 26 feet, exceeding the standard 20-foot lift, to access the necessary rigging points.
The installation process involved a three-step approach:
- Installing the chandeliers
- Adding the floral arrangements
- Adjusting the chandeliers' height to complement the florals.
This meticulous process ensured that the final display was both visually stunning and structurally sound.
“SSE exceeded my expectations! Not only did the SSE team expertly install the chandeliers, they also assisted our floral team in the rigging and installation of the hanging floral accents.”
Nora Culley Tuck, Planner & Creative Director at Engaged with Nora
Safety is a top priority for SSE, and all technicians involved in the rigging process are lift-certified and fully insured. This certification ensures that the team can operate safely within the venue, minimizing any potential risks.
The technical aspects of event planning may not always be visible, but they are crucial to creating a seamless and unforgettable experience.
The celebration
As the evening unfolded, the couple and their guests danced beneath this stunning display, their laughter echoing through the venue. The chandeliers and florals not only illuminated the space but also tied the entire room together, creating a cohesive and enchanting atmosphere.
“[Mia and John] loved it! Dancing under those chandeliers was a highlight for them and their guests!”

Custom lighting like this can transform a space, setting the mood for a romantic first dance, elevating the meal with a warm glow, and giving guests an atmosphere they’ll never forget. Couples we work with use lighting not just to brighten a room, but to tell their story in a way that feels personal and unforgettable.
